THE BIG CHURCH READ - and DISCUSSION!
Scattered Servants by Alan Scott
Thank you to so many for picking up the challenge to read this book together between 13 June and 13 August: as we say in the Big Read info page (http://www.goldhill.org/bigread) , there may be some parts that you disagree with or consider irrelevant to our context – the important thing is to read and pray big for what God would do in and through us. ALSO, save the date for an online discussion: Wednesday 14th July 8-9pm : Zoom room ID 844 0599 8182 Passcode 313964 – we’d love to hear what has encouraged, stirred or challenged you!
PRAYER: BEING HUMBLE AND RESPECTFUL IN ALL OUR RELATIONS
As our message this week reminds us, being great in God’s Kingdom does not come from high positions of leadership or authority. Greatness in God’s eyes is seen through humble service. Humility is revealed in a leader when we are serving God and serving others. Humility is offering up our lives for others to see the love of Christ for them in us. May we each demonstrate such humility in our own circles of influence, however near or far these reach. We pray for:
• our individual dealings with family, friends, neighbours, colleagues
• for leaders in business, the charitable sector, the church …..
• those serving the public in the health service, in education, in the police and military sectors
• those directing public life at local, regional and national level
• those engaged in international dealings
May humility and the love of Christ for mankind be increasingly evident in each arena.
‘Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your glory – because of your love and faithfulness to us’
