Prayer

One of our four values at Gold Hill is “Expectant in Prayer.”

The most important activity that any individual or church can perform is to pray.

What is Prayer?

Prayer is simply spending time with God — either on our own or with others. We can tell Him what’s on our mind (the good and the bad), listen for His voice, and invite Him to act in situations that concern us.

We believe that God changes situations and people by the power of His Holy Spirit as His people pray.

Prayer is so simple that anyone can pray, anywhere, at any time. Yet it is also so deep and mysterious that we can spend a lifetime growing in it. At Gold Hill we believe God wants us to spend time with Him, growing in relationship with Him.

How We Encourage Prayer at Gold Hill

  • We encourage everyone to develop a personal prayer life.
  • We build prayer into the regular rhythm of church life.
  • We provide resources to help people go deeper in prayer.

Developing Your Personal Prayer Life

Any important relationship requires time and attention — our relationship with Jesus is no different. We encourage you to build regular one-on-one time with God into your daily routine.

A simple place to start is with the prayer Jesus taught His disciples.

Matthew 5:9-13

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Helpful tools for developing prayer:

365-Day Guide for the World

The YouVersion Bible App a plan which allows you to pray each day by name for workers in the 110 most unreached cities in the world. These labourers are sharing the gospel, planting churches, translating Scripture, making disciples and/or ministering to the poor and broken!

Opportunities to Pray With Others

Praying on your own is important. Praying with others is also an essential aspect of being a disciple.

After each Sunday Gathering there is an opportunity to ask someone to pray with you.

Acts 1:14

They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Monthly Day of Prayer and Fasting

On the first Tuesday of each month we dedicate a day to fasting and prayer for revival.

  • Make time in the day for extra prayer (e.g. use a meal time for a prayer walk, or switch off TV to pray).
  • Join our prayer gatherings in The Hub at 12:30 pm and 8:00 pm.

Seasons of Prayer

Several times a year we set aside a week or longer for concentrated prayer. These are exciting times where we seek God’s voice together.

Watch and Pray

Watch and Pray is a small intercession prayer group which specifically listen to God and discern how our Father is leading us to pray for our leadership at Gold Hill, the local community and beyond. For more information please email jennyoliphant@yahoo.com.ar
