Giving

Everything we have is a gift from God

As disciples of Jesus, we believe that since everything comes from God, it is right for us to give back to God with our time, our energy and our finance.

Gold Hill Baptist Church was founded in 1774 in the Mill House near the Church Lane car park. We are grateful to God that we can continue the adventure started by our predecessors 250 years ago. In 2021, we moved into the Hub, increasing the opportunities we have to help our local community. In 2024, we bought a house to accommodate our Pastor Team Leader. We give thanks for the generosity of those who have provided finance to make all this possible.

Would you like to donate to Gold Hill?

The finance team is better able to plan and budget if you are able to commit to a regular monthly donation to the General Fund.

You can use online banking to set up a standing order payable to:

Gold Hill Church Trust
Sort Code: 20-02-06
Account No: 80433152

If you don’t use online banking, then you can download a standing order here or pick up a paper standing order from the Hub reception desk. This can either be sent to your bank, put into the offering on Sunday, or brought to the Hub in an envelope marked “Confidential – for the attention of Chris Gledhill”.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, we can reclaim the tax element of your gift, meaning we get an extra 25p for every £1 you give. Gift Aid makes a huge contribution to the church’s income.

If you prefer to use a printed Gift Aid form, you can download it here or pick one up from The Hub. The printed form can be put into the offering on Sunday, or brought to the Hub in an envelope marked “Confidential – for the attention of Chris Gledhill”.

If you pay us electronically, please insert the purpose of your donation in the reference.

One-off gifts

If you wish to make a one-off gift, and you use online banking, then please arrange a direct bank transfer using the account details shown above. Alternatively, you can click this QR code or scan it with your phone camera. This will take you to your banking website or banking app, with a payment screen pre-filled with our bank details.

Click or scan the QR code to pay through online banking:

If you don’t use online banking, then you can donate to us by debit or credit card, by clicking this button or using one of the contactless card machines in the Hub.

We also take a cash offering during our Sunday gatherings at The Hub.

Note that Gold Hill pays a handling charge for card payments. There is no handling charge for standing orders, transfers directly between bank accounts, or if you use the QR code displayed above or during Sunday gatherings.

Regular Gifts

If you currently give regularly to Gold Hill by cash, cheque, contactless (credit or debit card), or via this website, you may wish to be aware that some of these methods incur handling charges. These charges are deducted by the payment provider, meaning that Gold Hill receives up to 2% less than the amount you give.

If you would prefer your full donation to reach Gold Hill, you may wish to consider giving by standing order. Standing orders can be set up through online or telephone banking, by downloading and completing a standing order form from this website, or by using a paper form available from the tables at the back of the Hub auditorium or from the reception desk. Completed forms can be sent directly to your bank, placed in the Sunday collection, or returned to the Hub in an envelope marked “Confidential – for the attention of Chris Gledhill”.

Allocating donations

We encourage members to give regularly to the General Fund so the Church Leadership can use the money where it’s needed most. You can also choose to give to specific funds, but those gifts can only be used for their designated purpose. Other funds include:

  • Heart Hub Home, which is used to service and/or reduce the loan for the Hub.
  • Fellowship Fund, which is used to support members of the church family who are in need.
  • Manse, which is used to repay the mortgage on the home provided to our Pastor Team Leader.

Give as you Live

You can also give to Gold Hill without it costing you at all! We are registered with ‘Give as you Live’, which means you can sign up for Gold Hill to raise money each time you make a purchase online with any of over 6,000 shops and organisations. So if you regularly shop online and can sign up, it can really make a difference to us without costing you a thing.

Foreign Currency

If you have returned from your travels with leftover foreign currency or have foreign currency stored at home in case you may need it one day, why not donate it to Gold Hill? Gold Hill Church Trust is able to exchange both coins and banknotes on behalf of Gold Hill Baptist Church. As a charity, 5% is added to the competitive exchange rates we receive.

Don’t waste time with journeys to distant banks, which may only exchange notes: put your currency in the Sunday collection bags or one of the blue boxes at the rear of the auditorium and on the reception desk. Please place different currencies in separate sealed envelopes.

If you are eligible for Gift Aid, please include your name with your donation and, if you have not previously completed a Gift Aid declaration, please do so – see Gift Aid above.

All amounts gratefully received.
