Our series in the book of James

Here are all the details for our current series, ‘Just Do It’, as we explore the book of James together in our morning services.

1. Pressing On

James 1:1-18 (Sep 30)

How can we keep on going in the midst of trial or temptation? We need to get praying, get our perspective right, and to allow the process of God’s grace to take place in our hearts.

2. Hearing and Doing

James 1:19-27 (Oct 7)

If we just listen to what God says but aren’t willing to do anything with it, James has some strong words for us. What should our lives look like as people who follow God? What is our religion?

3. Playing Favourites

James 2:1-13 (Oct 14)

What we do demonstrates what we really believe about Jesus. For the communities James writes to, that had some pretty strong implications, so what might those implications look like for us?

4. Faith that Works

James 2:14-26 (Oct 21)

This is the central passage in all of James because it shows the relationship between our faith and our actions. There is a really deep connection, so will that show in our faiths and our actions?

5. Taming the Tongue

James 3:1-12 (Oct 28)

In possibly the most practical section of the whole of the book of James, he talks about our mouths and how we use them. What does our language and what comes from our tongues show about the state of our hearts?

6. Living in Faith

James 5:1-12 (Nov 4)

As we finish this series, we ask how we can continue in faith. What does it mean to keep on going, and how can we make sure we are pursuing all that is right and reject all that is wrong?
