GH has had a significant commitment to work overseas for many years. Eleven projects currently have GH personnel, including families and singles. They are based in far-flung locations in South and North America, the Far East, Africa, the Middle East, and western and eastern Europe. A few of our workers are based in the UK, particularly during times of political instability, but still continue to work on overseas projects.
Support
The Mission Council (MC) coordinates support for GH overseas workers. This includes prayer and financial support, home assignment arrangements and accommodation as required. In certain circumstances, the MC has been able to arrange visits to workers overseas for encouragement and help. GH supports our own members in mission, and as they all belong to recognised mission organisations, we have close links with their missions too, and usually channel financial support through the mission who then pass it on.
Short term workers
GH is keen to encourage short term workers, including Gap year students, people taking a sabbatical, or retirees. MC gives suggestions, advice and support to worthwhile projects that fit in with the GH ethos of supporting church growth, both qualitatively as well size. We hope that short term commitment will encourage greater interest in supporting mission, or even a longer term commitment to mission overseas.
