What we Believe
A Christian is, someone who follows Jesus, at least in the way the term was first coined.
Jesus was the first century founder of a religious movement (originally known as 'the way' & later as Christianity).
His claims, which made himself equal with God, did not make him popular in a religious society. Jesus taught that if you want to have life in all its fullness, you have to throw the world's rules and values out of the window.
- The world values you on the basis of your money, sexual potency or power.....
- God values you because you are his precious creation.
- The world says that you are perfect just as you are.....
- God knows you better than that - he sees the selfishness (broken relationships, arguments, addictions, fears, anger, hatred) that bubble to the surface in all of us and he wants better for us.
- The world says that you can become whoever you want to be....
- Jesus exposed this lie and showed us how to become who we were made to be. He died to swallow up the separation from God that we have created by our selfishness and came back to life, showing that we can overcome death and the fear of death. He said that he would send supernatural power to his followers when he went back to heaven to change them, so that they could transform the world.
- The world says that you can't stop the rot......
- 2000 years on from Jesus, there have been many mess ups and divisions, but Jesus followers are still going strong. We rely on the supernatural power he provides to relate to him, change our own lives from the inside out and transform the world.
