It's not only older people who can be house-bound and lonely. There are times in many of our lives when things get tough and we feel alone with no-one to talk to.

BeFrienders is a scheme which aims to match volunteers who are able to give time and friendship to those who need help, either temporarily or regularly over a longer period of time. Trained volunteers provide support and friendship, encouragement and practical help to individuals or families in the community who are lonely, having little social contact because they find it difficult getting out of their home.

Referrals
BeFrienders operates on a referral basis. Most referrals come from Health Visitors, Doctors, Nurses and Social Services but some self referrals come directly to Catherine Dwight.

Volunteers
Catherine is keen to meet with anyone wanting to learn more about BeFrienders and possibly becoming a volunteer BeFriender.
